Scanning the Legal Landscape: Discoverability and Admissibility of Genetic Evidence in Civil Litigation
Sponsored by: Johnson & Bell Ltd.
This 60-minute presentation will provide claims and risk professionals with an overview of the growing use and challenges of genetic evidence in civil litigation. Claims professionals overseeing toxic tort and asbestos disputes already recognize the influence of genetic testing in their lawsuits. Lawsuits claiming medical malpractice will likely be the next area to see an increase in the use of genetic testing to prove/disprove various claims. This presentation will educate claims professionals about developments in the use and interpretation of genetic evidence in litigation. This presentation will also discuss the potential for increased risk and expanded liability for health care institutions and their professionals – and the companies that insure them.
